2019 ASUC project of the year in the £1M category

The project itself presented a number of significant engineering and logistical challenges. The property is a significant structure and replicates a number of the embassies around the square. The intention was to build a double storey basement below the existing lower ground floor level.

The result was excavating 15 meters below ground floor whilst supporting the superstructure on a temporary works steel frame which itself is supported off temporary bearing piles.

Given the significance of the location the works needed to be carried out with a strong onus on both noise and movement monitoring to ensure these remained within unusually strict parameters.

The excavation was carried out by piling a significant proportion of the perimeter to assist with managing the ground water and mitigating any running fines.

It was a job that showed the level of expertise and the attention to detail that has defined BH Basements growth over the last decade in particular.

It was a project that was finished ahead of programme and on budget.
